NBCDI Policy Fellowship Program

Overview: Fosters Black leaders committed to creating an equitable and just future for Black children and families.

Program Launch: June 2019

Purpose: Elevates and accelerates Black leaders to ensure leadership at the national level more closely reflects the young children being served in education, health, and social service systems.

Duration: 18 months

The Work

NBCDI Policy Fellows engage in intensive leadership and career development programs designed to prepare them for senior and executive-level leadership roles in policy and advocacy related to families and children at the national level.

    Results/Outcomes

    Each Fellow is equipped with:
  • New approaches to policy
  • Diverse points of view
  • Fresh perspectives on increasing racial equity and access to high-quality programs
  • Ability to develop policies supporting overall health and wellbeing of young Black children

Alumni Impact: Program alumni enjoy increased influence in their communities, driving policy and programmatic change in service of the eight essential outcomes.
