Natural and Scenic Area grants Grant

The Natural and Scenic Area grants program aims to enhance and protect Minnesota's natural landscapes by providing matching grants to local governments covering up to 50% of acquisition costs. Eligible activities include site surveying and boundary signing, ensuring safety and restoring natural resource values. Each park or area requires a separate application, and organizations can receive multiple grants. This initiative, established under Minnesota Statutes 85.019, supports the preservation of the state's scenic beauty.

To increase, protect and enhance natural and scenic areas. This program is established in Minnesota Statutes 85.019
How it works:
Provides matching grants to local units of government for up to 50% of the cost of acquisition of natural and scenic areas. Minimal betterment activities are eligible as part of an acquisition project including site surveying, boundary signing, and immediate measures needed to stabilize the site and ensure the safety of users and active restoration efforts that would significantly improve the site’s natural resource values.
A separate application must be submitted for each unique park/natural and scenic area. Multi-site applications are not accepted. Applicants are eligible to receive more than one grant.
