The Nationwide Foundation’s mission To improve the quality of life in communities in which a large number of Nationwide members, associates, partners and their families live and work. Our giving history Since 2000, the Nationwide Foundation has contributed more than $700 million to nonprofit organizations across the country that work to meet crucial needs in communities with a significant presence of Nationwide associates. In 2006, the foundation pledged the largest gift in its history, granting $50 million to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Over the last eight years, the foundation gifted the hospital with an additional $100 million in grants to establish and support the Nationwide Foundation Pediatric Innovation Fund. The Nationwide Foundation also helps maximize the impact of personal gifts by matching, dollar for dollar, associate contributions through our Nationwide Cares Campaign, our Associates Helping Associates program and gifts to accredited higher-education institutions. Nationwide Foundation grants fall into three categories: General operating support Project and/or program support Capital support (these grants are limited and considered on a case-by-case basis) Strategic Impact Areas The foundation assesses the needs in communities and awards grants to support organizations that focus in four key areas: Tier 1: Food Secuity Agriculture education & research Food sourcing & distribution Youth development Tier 2: Crisis stabilization Addiction & behavioral health Crisis services Disaster relief Domestic violence Homelessness Supportive housing Tier 3: Social and Economic Empowerment Housing Education Economic mobility Criminal justice Tier 4: Children's Wellbeing Behavioral health Child advocacy Pediatric care Youth development Youth shelterEligibility
