Overview

Narrative 4 National Schools Network (N4NSN)

Status: The program is no longer accepting new applications as of the extraction date. Previous deadline was January 31st, 2025.

Geographic Scope: United States (K-12 schools across the US)

Program Focus:

  • Community of select schools and educators committed to experiential learning and intentional community

  • Supporting students and educators through storytelling and the arts

  • Building connection and empathy through narrative practices
  • Key Takeaways:

  • Participants experience the Story Exchange and receive training to become Narrative 4 facilitators

  • Participation in communities of practice to enhance skillsets

  • Access to Narrative 4 tools and resources for classroom use
  • Eligibility:

  • All K-12 schools across the US (public, charter, private, religious, homeschool coalitions)

  • Educators may apply individually or as a team from their school

  • Team Requirement: 5-20 staff members from each school
  • Time Commitment:

  • Program runs over a semester with rolling start between late August and early September

  • 15-20 hours of out-of-school time for trainings and workshops

  • 5-7 hours of classroom work

  • Lead educator must attend at least 80% of N4 NSN events and workshops
  • Funding: The N4NSN is fully funded

    Required Commitments:

  • Lead educator attends at least 80% of N4 NSN events and workshops

  • All participating educators participate in story exchange and are trained as N4 facilitators

  • Participating educators complete pre and post-assessments

  • Participating educators complete a story exchange in their classroom during the semester

    Submission Details:

  • One application per school

  • Applications reviewed and selected schools notified in early February

  • Programming begins in mid-February

    3. Step 3: School Participation & Background
    - Number of educators/staff members participating (5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20)
    - How you heard about N4NSN (social media, Google, word of mouth, referral, N4 employee contact, other)
    - Previous experience with Narrative 4 (Story Exchange Facilitator Training, Artists Network Workshop, Other, Special Event)
    - Current use of storytelling and arts in school
    - Current programming at school
    - Description of current school culture
    - How this initiative will support the school
    - Additional information about why school should be selected

    4. Step 4: Resources & Consent
    - Resources school can contribute (venue space, workshop supplies, printing materials, art supplies, other)
    - Consent acknowledgment of commitments (attendance, participation, assessments, classroom story exchange)

    Required Consent Box:
    Must acknowledge that the lead educator will attend 80% of events, all educators will participate in story exchange training, pre/post assessments will be completed, and a classroom story exchange will be completed.
