Overview

The NACBS Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship: Category 1 offers a $10,000 award for graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. or early-career scholars within three years of their Ph.D. This initiative, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, seeks to promote diversity and inclusion in British Studies by supporting underrepresented minority scholars. The fellowship includes membership to the NACBS for three years, fostering professional development and engagement in the academic community.

The NACBS sponsors a scholarly journal, the Journal of British Studies, online publications, an annual conference, as well as several academic prizes, graduate fellowships, and undergraduate essay contests.
NACBS Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship
Inspired by the events of 2020 and the Black Lives Matter movement, these awards are intended to support a substantial work of scholarship on any aspect of Black British Studies, broadly defined. The fellowship consists of a $10,000 stipend. Two runners-up will receive a $5,000 research grant.
