NAA-REF Mini Grants

    Purpose

    Mini grants fund smaller projects that meet one or more NAA-REF purposes:
  • The study and understanding of grievance procedures, arbitration process, and other forms of labor and employment dispute resolution
  • Education and training of persons engaged in resolution of labor-management and employment disputes (lecture programs, symposiums, conferences, training seminars)
  • Preparation and publication of books, symposium materials, articles, and audio-visual materials (videos, websites, CDs) enhancing competence in arbitration and mediation
  • Projects fostering highest standards of integrity, competence, honor, and character in arbitration and dispute resolution
  • Preparation of material keeping arbitrators and students abreast of current research into arbitration process and dispute resolution procedures

    Eligibility

  • Open to researchers, educators, and organizations engaged in labor and employment arbitration and dispute resolution
  • Individuals and institutions in US and Canada

    Appropriate Projects

  • Student writing competitions
  • Short courses and training programs
  • Discrete, smaller-scale projects

    Review Process

  • Reviewed by NAA-REF Executive Committee (President and Vice Presidents or delegees)
  • Ongoing basis throughout the year

Application Process for Mini Grants

1. Submit Application Materials:
- Complete application with the following information:
- Name, contact information, and institutional affiliation of applicant
- Identification of the appropriate REF purpose(s) the proposal meets
- Amount requested
- Specific budget items and expected use
- Brief description of project

2. Submission Format:
- Submit proposals in Word or PDF format
- Include contact information

3. Submission Instructions:

- Applications may be submitted at any time during the year

Conditions for Receiving Funding

  • Written Report: Provide written report at conclusion of project describing project activities and accomplishments
  • Summary for Website: Provide abstract/executive summary for NAA-REF webpages and marketing materials
  • Acknowledgement: Must prominently acknowledge NAA-REF funding in any publications or materials
  • Publication Rights: NAA-REF reserves right to publish reports and include links on REF webpages
  • Presentation: May be asked to present project at NAA annual spring meeting or regional meetings
  • Return Unspent Funds: Any unspent funds must be returned to NAA-REF
