Music Therapy Impact Fund Grant

The Music Therapy Impact Fund is dedicated to expanding high-quality, research-informed music therapy services throughout Butte County. The fund establishes music therapy as a standard in healthcare.

Definition: Music therapy is the professional use of music and its elements as an intervention in medical, educational, and everyday environments with individuals, groups, families, or communities who seek to optimize their quality of life and improve their physical, social, communicative, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health and wellbeing.

Geographic Scope: Butte County, California

Priorities

• Strengthening current programs
• Building new programs to meet community needs
• Reducing financial barriers so participants can access meaningful, life-enhancing music therapy experiences at little to no cost

Eligibility

Grants are available to:

• Individuals who would benefit from enhanced access to music therapy, music-based wellness and therapeutic support
• Applications may be submitted by care partners, therapeutic team members, family members, or the recipient themselves
• Grants are open year-round

Current Programs Supported

• North State Therapy Choir — supporting people with Parkinson's disease and their care partners
• Harmonica Choir — empowering participants living with Parkinson's disease, COPD, respiratory illnesses, or cardiac rehabilitation needs
• Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy Program — available to any person in hospice, no matter their hospice provider
• Individual Scholarships — reducing financial barriers so more people can participate fully in services
