Overview

Beyond the Beige Program This long-standing local grant tradition supports organizations contributing to the municipality's wellness through beautifying public space, preserving and enriching cultural heritage, sparking community dialogue, and empowering local artists. ​Second, and new this year, $100,000 will be awarded jointly by the Municipality and the Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA) to Beyond the Beige proposals. We are seeking proposals by two or more organizations working together for projects that bring color to a neighborhood or neighborhoods. Projects could include murals, alleyway projects, façade improvements, and beyond. Award  terms: Organizations may seek additional outside funding to complete project proposed.Awardees accept all manner of liability for project during the term of the project. Awardees must secure liability or event insurance suitable to cover any issues/injuries for the duration of the project until it is formally dedicated.Awardees will receive 75% of grant award upfront, and the remaining 25% of grant award when the project is complete.Project unveiling must be arranged to include the Mayor of Anchorage and the Executive Director of ACDA.

Eligibility:The Primary Organization applicant / officer must be a resident of the Municipality of Anchorage, and all participating organizations must have a physical location in the State of Alaska.Surface or area for the project must be located in the MoA and be accessible and free of cost to the public.The Primary Organization must have a written agreement with the owner of the surface or area intended for the project.If the surface is on a business property, the property may not have any expired permits with the MoA at the award of the grant.The project must comply with all MoA laws, including building code, sign regulations, and zoning ordinances.The project cannot constitute a tripping hazard or obstruct pedestrian access.501(c)(3) nonprofits which offer visual art, theater, dance, music, and poetry in the Municipality of Anchorage.
