Multi-Chapter Grant Program

The Multi-Chapter Grant Program, funded by Sigma Xi, supports collaborative initiatives among its chapters, offering up to $2,000 for two years to enhance the research enterprise. This program encourages both in-person and virtual collaborations, inviting diverse chapters to engage in innovative activities that improve the human condition.

About Sigma Xi
Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society is the international honor society of science and engineering. One of the oldest and largest scientific organizations in the world, Sigma Xi has a distinguished history of service to science and society for more than one hundred and twenty five years. Scientists and engineers, whose research spans the disciplines of science and technology, comprise the membership of the Society. Sigma Xi chapters can be found at colleges and universities, government laboratories, and industry research centers around the world. More than 200 Nobel Prize winners have been members.
The Greek letters "sigma" and "xi" form the acronym of the Society's motto, "Spoudon Xynones," which translates as "Companions in Zealous Research."
Chapters are both the backbone of Sigma Xi and its "hearth and home" for so many members around the world.
The Multi-Chapter Grant Program funds qualifying collaborations at a maximum of $1,000 annually for a two-year activity run ($2,000 total per collaboration). Up to two new distinct multi-chapter initiatives will be funded each year, based on their comparative merits (see Selection Criteria below). Chapters in good standing from all Constituencies and Regions are invited to participate. Chapters need not have geographical proximity to one another to qualify for funding, and collaborative activities may be "in-person" or "virtual" (i.e., Internet-based). The Program guidelines are intended to be sufficiently broad and flexible to spur a wide range of proposed activities.
