MPF Grants Program

Program Overview
The Michigan Pharmacy Foundation (MPF) provides grant funding for projects that support its mission to advance pharmacy leadership, education and research and promote pharmacy practice to the highest level of patient care. Over 20+ years, the Foundation has awarded in excess of $275,000 in grant funding.

Eligible Applicants
MPF accepts grant applications from:

  • Individual pharmacy professionals

  • Student pharmacists and residents

  • Pharmacy organizations

  • Colleges of pharmacy

  • Pharmacy businesses in Michigan
  • Project Focus Areas
    Projects that promote the MPF mission to:

  • Advance pharmacy leadership

  • Support pharmacy education and research

  • Promote pharmacy practice to the highest level of patient care
  • Geographic Scope
    Michigan only. Programs or projects conducted outside the state of Michigan will not be funded.

    Grant Term

  • Most grants are for a term of one year

  • Multi-year grants considered under certain circumstances (typically 13-24 months)

  • Multi-year grants typically decrease in size in successive years

  • Second-year funding based on annual review and successful attainment of program outcomes
  • Funding Distribution

  • First installment: 50% of approved funding, paid within 21 days of grant acceptance

  • Second installment: 25%, paid upon Board approval of interim report

  • Final installment: 25%, paid upon approval of final report (no longer than 13 months after project initiation)
  • Reporting Requirements

  • Interim Report (6 months): No more than 2 single-spaced pages in 12-point Times New Roman font. Include:

  • - Overview of progress made
    - Appropriate statistics (e.g., patient enrollment)
    - Accountability of expenses to date vs. original budget
  • Final Report (13 months): No more than 4 single-spaced pages in 12-point Times New Roman font. Include:

  • - Brief overview of study/project
    - Achieved outcomes
    - Statistical data relevant to study/project
    - Income and expense accountability (budget vs. actual)
    - Plans to sustain project beyond grant funding

    Grantee Obligations

  • Required to present study/project outcomes or communicate the value of MPF grant program at:

  • - Foundation Board meeting, OR
    - Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) Annual Convention & Exposition, OR
    - Other mutually agreed upon event
  • MPF and/or MPA has first right of refusal to publish outcomes related to funded projects
  • Non-Discrimination Policy
    Applicants and organizations must conduct business without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, national origin or any other characteristic protected by law.

    What MPF Will NOT Fund
    The Foundation typically will not provide funding for:

  • Construction projects (new building or routine maintenance)

  • Proprietary projects

  • Annual giving campaigns

  • Normal operating expenses (except for start-up purposes)

  • Equipment purchases

  • Fundraising events

  • Religious or sectarian purposes

  • Computer hardware equipment

  • Salaries for organizational staff or grant recipients (fees for research/technician services, consulting fees, or administrative services expenses may be allowable if essential)

  • Partisan political purposes

  • Loans

  • Re-granting

  • Indirect costs exceeding 10% of the grant

  • Programs or projects conducted outside Michigan
