Overview

National Psoriasis Foundation The mission of the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected. More than Skin Deep: Mental Health Grant The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is seeking grant applications from researchers interested in conducting projects focused on mental health in psoriatic disease. The goal of this award is to support this area of unmet need in the psoriatic disease community by funding research focused on investigating the effects of psoriatic disease on mental health, as well as interventions for addressing this comorbidity, inflammatory processes, stigma, psychosocial impact of psoriasis, barriers to care, financial burden of chronic disease, or other related areas. Psoriatic disease does not discriminate. The NPF advocates for improved access to care and meaningful access to treatments. We support research and clinical trials focused on addressing health disparities and treating BIPOC. Applications should take into consideration representation of diverse population in all aspects of research, study team, and study participants/enrollees. Applicants may request up to $100,000 (direct costs only) per year.

Eligibility

The applicant must hold a Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree and be personally and actively responsible for the conduct of the proposed research, and eligible to apply as principal investigator for research grants under the guidelines of the applicant’s host institution. Please note: one Key Personnel must be a Mental Health expert.The applicant need not be a United States citizen and the research need not take place in the United States. Research Symposium AttendanceApplications to National Psoriasis Foundation funding opportunities must require budgeting for attendance at the bi-annual NPF Research Symposium. Registration for NPF funded awardees will be waived, but awardees will be expected to stay in the on-site NPF room block. Awardees should anticipate two nights accommodation, airfare, ground transportation, and meal expenses. A recommendation is made that investigators budget $1,500 - $2,000, depending on distance traveled. For-profit companies are eligible to apply for NPF research grants.Non-US citizens are eligible to apply for NPF research grants. Research can take place at institutions outside the United States for all of our grants.

Ineligibility

You may not overlap two awards in a single program, but it is permissible to have two concurrent awards in separate programs (e.g., having concurrent awards through Discovery Grant and Translational Research Grant is possible, while having two concurrent Discovery Grant awards is not.)The NPF does not allow budgeting for administrative overhead or indirect costs. NPF does not allow costs associated with alterations or renovations. NPF does not fund the purchase of major items of capital equipment.
