Moderna Charitable Foundation Grants

The Moderna Charitable Foundation, established in 2022, aims to enhance public health and healthcare access while fostering scientific education and inclusion in underserved communities. Their initiatives include grant-making to aligned organizations, supporting humanitarian crises, and employee matching for personal causes. The Foundation focuses on building resilient health ecosystems, advancing STEM education, and addressing systemic barriers in communities, all while committed to addressing the ongoing impact of COVID-19.

Our company launched the Moderna Charitable Foundation in 2022 to support organizations and causes that promote public health and access to quality healthcare, advancing scientific education and innovation, and advocating for diversity and inclusion, particularly in underserved populations.
Our grant-making areas of focus include:

• HEALTH: Building resilient health ecosystems by promoting public health and access to quality healthcare
• SCIENCE: Closing the opportunity gap for the next generation by advancing STEM education and innovation
• COMMUNITY: Strengthening local communities, particularly where we live and work, by addressing systemic barriers faced by underserved populations

Eligibility

The organization is a registered nonprofit, non-governmental organization under local jurisdiction with charitable purposes and practices equivalent to 501(c)(3) status in the U.S.
The organization’s mission and demonstrated impact clearly align with one or more of the Moderna Charitable Foundation’s investment areas.

Ineligibility

The Moderna Charitable Foundation does not support:

• Donations to individuals

Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, military service, veteran status, disability, or other unlawful bases
Sectarian or denominational religious organizations, missionary groups or projects serving religious purposes (although support may be granted to educational institutions or charitable programs that are affiliated with religious organizations)
Political campaigns or organizations funding political campaigns
Projects with a detrimental effect on the environment or biodiversity
Basic biomedical research, Moderna-sponsored clinical research, or clinical trials
Projects that directly influence or advance Moderna’s business, including purchase, utilization, prescribing, formulary position, pricing, reimbursement, referral, recommendation, or payment for products
