Milbank Foundation Grant

The Milbank Foundation, established in 1995, focuses on integrating people with disabilities into society. Its current priorities include community-based initiatives for empowerment, rehabilitation of veterans, support for seniors in aging at home, and health care reforms. The Foundation also addresses mental health and substance abuse, particularly among youth. Eligible organizations must be U.S.-based and tax-exempt, while individuals and certain projects, like annual appeals and international initiatives, are ineligible for funding.

The Milbank Foundation was created in 1995 to pursue Jeremiah Milbank’s vision of integrating people with disabilities into all aspects of American life.
The Foundation’s current priorities include:

• Consumer-focused, community-based initiatives that empower people with disabilities and foster independence and self-sufficiency
• The rehabilitation and re-integration of veterans, especially veterans with disabilities
• Helping seniors to age in the place of their choice through non-institutional, community-based health and social services, and

Market-oriented, patient-centered health care reforms across the countryPrograms that address mental health issues and aim to prevent substance abuse and suicide, especially among young people.

Eligibility

To be eligible for funding by the Foundation, an organization must be located in the United States and tax-exempt under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

Ineligibility

The Foundation cannot provide grants to individuals. As a general rule, the Foundation does not provide annual funding.Proposals for the following are rarely approved:

• Annual appeals, dinner events, and direct mail solicitations
• Arts, music, or theater
• Building funds, capital campaigns, or renovations
• Equipment, including computers and biomedical devices
• Endowments or general operating funds
• Government or quasi-government entities, including public schools
• Individual financial assistance or scholarships
• International projects
• Multi-year grants
• Political causes, candidates, campaigns, or direct lobbying
• Organizations lacking tax-exempt status
