Michigan Achievement Scholarship

Funder: State of Michigan

Geographic Scope: Michigan public and private institutions; available to Michigan high school graduates

Award Purpose: Provides significant financial aid to Michigan high school graduates (Class of 2023 and after) and those who achieve a high school equivalency certificate to help cover college or training costs.

Award Amounts by Institution Type:

Michigan Community Colleges: Up to $2,750 per year for up to 3 years

Michigan Public Universities: Up to $5,500 per year for up to 5 years

Michigan Private Colleges/Universities: Up to $4,000 per year for up to 5 years

Eligible Training Providers: Up to $2,000 per year for up to 2 years

Coverage: Program is estimated to cover:

94% of students attending community colleges

79% of students attending private colleges/universities

76% of students attending public universities

Eligibility Requirements:

Graduate from Michigan high school in 2023 or after

OR achieve high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after

Have Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $25,000 or less based on FAFSA

Note: Families making $150,000+ per year could qualify

What is Covered: Program covers remaining balance of tuition and mandatory fees after other state and federal financial aid have been applied.
