Overview

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Fund of Southwest Iowa

Status: Active endowed fund

Geographic Scope: Nine-county service area: Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby (Iowa)

Purpose: Created to enhance the reach and capacity of nonprofit service providers around their ability to educate the public, provide preventative solutions, and deliver internal training to increase the capacity and ability of providers to serve their communities.

Focus Areas:

  • Professional Development: Training and development opportunities for service providers

  • Raising Community Awareness: Education and awareness initiatives to address stigma and increase access to services
  • Community Issues Addressed: Mental health, drug and alcohol abuse and addiction, teen suicide, isolation and stigma

    Goals: Create long-term, sustainable and quantifiable positive impact by increasing available funding pools and effectively managing resources for nonprofit service providers.
