In pursuit of this mission, the departments in the Human Services Cabinet meet residents where they are - in their homes, neighborhoods, and communities - to break down barriers to critical resources. Mayor’s Youth Sports Grant A grant designed to lower barriers and make youth sports more affordable and inclusive. Grant Program Description Mayor Wu's Office of Human Services is excited to announce the 2025 Let’s Play Boston Grant. This funding opportunity is open to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or fiscal sponsors of local providers who have been in operation for the past two years, with a record of youth enrollment who serve youth ages 8-18 to participate in athletic programming and are registered in City of Boston Youth Sports Hub. This effort is to support organizations that are community-based sports organizations with a mostly volunteer staff (more than 50%). Grant recipients will receive funding for up to $5,000 to support increasing access sports opportunities for Boston youth. Applicants must intend to use funds to (1) reduce the registration fee, (2) purchase new equipment or uniforms, and /or (3) cover rental space costs for this program. The Office of Human Services may choose to fund applicants in part. A total of $250,000 will be available for community-based sports non profit organizations.Eligibility

Grantees eligible for a grant must be: A community-based sports organization with tax-exempt nonprofit status or partnering with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor.Able to provide direct, out-of-school sports instruction to youth between the ages of 8 and 19 years old during the 2025-2026 school year.Based within the City of Boston and must serve City of Boston residents.Have a total organizational budget below $500,000.Program Type:Fee-based Programs – programs that charge a participation fee can only request grant funds to provide no-cost registration for Boston youth.Free Programs – programs that do not charge a participation fee can request grant funds to cover Equipment and/or Space Costs.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
