Mary Black Foundation Grant

What We Fund

The Mary Black Foundation prioritizes investments that support high-quality early life experiences because research shows that they can significantly impact lifelong health outcomes. We also know it is one of the best ways to improve community-wide health outcomes. The Foundation uses a holistic, multi-generational approach, intentionally investing in both children and the adults who care for them.

Based on input from partners, research, and health data, the Foundation is currently prioritizing programs and interventions that do the following:

* Improve women’s access to prenatal and postpartum care and ensure access to contraception for effective pregnancy planning.
* Increase young children’s access to health care, developmental screenings, and early interventions.
* Improve access to high-quality, affordable childcare and early learning environments.
* Support initiatives that advance mental health and resilience for young children and their parents.
* Increase access to financial resources and affordable housing for families with young children.

The Foundation offers two grant cycles each year with application deadlines in late spring and fall.

Eligibility

* In order to receive funding from the Mary Black Foundation, an organization must be:
* A current 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as classified by the IRS, or governmental agency; and
* Serving Spartanburg County, SC.
* A core value of the Foundation is that we believe all people should have the opportunity to succeed.
* The Foundation supports and promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion at every level of the organization, including its grantmaking.

Ineligibility

* The Foundation’s funds will not be used to carry out activities that are discriminatory or to support organizations engaged in discriminatory practices.
