Society of Toxicology

Founded in 1961, the Society of Toxicology (SOT) is a professional and scholarly organization of scientists from academic institutions, government, and industry representing the great variety of scientists who practice toxicology in the US and abroad. The Society’s mission is to create a safer and healthier world by advancing the science and increasing the impact of toxicology.

SOT operates under four guiding principles.

These four principles are:

* Serving the needs of the scientific discipline and our members to enhance human, animal, and environmental health.
* Life-long learning and intellectual scientific stimulation.
* Diversity of representation in all activities of the Society.
* Integrity.

Mary Amdur Student Award

An engraved plaque and cash stipend ($500) will be awarded to the student whose abstract best addresses the environmental health issues that were the focus of Dr. Mary Amdur’s career. Dr. Amdur was a pioneer in air pollution toxicology, who overcame gender, political, and scientific barriers to proclaim the potential for interactions between specific air pollutants. Eligibility

* In a given year, students can only apply to either the Mary Amdur Award or the Student Award, but not both.
* SOT awards are open to applicants from any country and SOT encourages eligible applicants to apply no matter where they live.

_You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. Applicants for the Mary Amdur Award must be members of the Inhalation and Respiratory Specialty Section._
