Mark Bloomberg Resident Research Awards

Overview: One or more awards are given each year to residents submitting abstracts for presentation at the VOS Annual Conference. The awards allow recipients to travel to the meeting to present their research work.

Background: Mark Bloomberg was a former VOS president, longstanding member, contributor, and supporter with special interests in orthopedics, sports medicine, clinical and research settings. He was also a tremendous supporter and mentor to residents. The Veterinary Orthopedic Society established The Mark S. Bloomberg Memorial Resident Research Awards to honor his memory, work, and devotion to residents.

Eligibility:

  • Veterinary residents

  • Must submit an abstract for presentation at the VOS Annual Conference
  • Award Details:

  • Recipients are encouraged to attend the Thursday night banquet for recognition by VOS membership

  • Winners give back by acknowledging VOS's contribution to their research and career

  • Bloomberg lectures scheduled for Thursday morning to facilitate banquet attendance

  • In 2025, seven awards were funded through generous donations from endowed Bloomberg sponsors
  • Sponsors: AO Vet North America, Arthrex, Boehringer-Ingelheim, New Generation Devices, Orthomed, Securos, and VOS Past Presidents
