Overview
The Malouf and Iris Abraham Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors from six counties in the Texas Panhandle who are pursuing an Agriculture major at Texas Tech University. This scholarship aims to empower local students by enhancing their educational opportunities in agricultural studies. If no eligible applicants majoring in Agriculture apply, students from other majors will also be considered, ensuring broader access to this valuable support.

As a leader in philanthropic, nonprofit, and community issues, the Foundation is a catalyzing force that addresses the community’s most critical challenges by providing significant, shared and lasting results.
The Amarillo Area Foundation’s history began in 1957 with a dream and a challenge to address the healthcare needs facing the Texas Panhandle. The Amarillo Area Foundation is the only community foundation serving Texas’ northernmost 26 counties. Since its inception in 1957 and into the future, the Foundation provides grants and services to strengthen nonprofit organizations and the services they deliver. The Foundation is governed by a Board of private citizens dedicated to their leadership role on philanthropic, nonprofit, and community issues.
For graduating high school seniors from Wheeler, Roberts, Gray, Hemphill, Ochiltree and Lipscomb Counties of the Texas Panhandle majoring in Agriculture at Texas Tech University. While donors prefer that students major in Agriculture, if there are no eligible applicants who meet the Agriculture major criteria, other majors will be considered.

The following policies apply to scholarship recipients:Scholarship recipients must enroll in the fall semester immediately following award and remain consecutively enrolled for the term of the scholarship unless specified otherwise.Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment (12 credit hours per semester for undergraduate, 6 credit hours per semester for graduate studies) The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw its Scholarship Awards under certain circumstances, including but not limited to:Recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA as specified in the Scholarship Fund Criteria (default: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale if unspecified).Recipient must attend the specified college/university if dictated by the Scholarship Fund Criteria; otherwise, they may attend any qualified institution.Recipient must major in the field of study specified in the Scholarship Fund Criteria.
