Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school senior

  • Have volunteered with MALO and/or been involved with MALO programs

  • Demonstrate MALO's core values: motivation, action, leadership, and commitment to community fulfillment

  • Recipients are nominated by MALO staff (not open application)
  • Program Overview:
    This scholarship aims to help support graduating high school seniors in their upcoming educational pursuits. The award recognizes students who embody MALO's values of leadership and community service. With its first scholarship awarded in 2022, MALO established this as an annual staple of their work.

    Example Recipients:

  • Fonofa Mafi (2022): Graduated from Arroyo Valley High School; involved in NHS, Singing Hawks Club, United Methodist Church of Colton, MALO Food Drive, and Community Health Workers (CHW) program. Used scholarship to pursue education at Sia'atoutai Theological School in Tonga with plans for ministerial work.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    This scholarship operates through nomination by MALO staff only. There is no open application process.

    Nomination Process:
    1. MALO staff identifies eligible graduating high school seniors
    2. Staff reviews candidates based on eligibility criteria and alignment with MALO values
    3. Recipients are notified and announced

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating high school senior

  • Previous volunteer experience with MALO programs

  • Demonstrated commitment to MALO's core values (motivation, action, leadership, community service)
  • No direct application materials required — nomination is staff-initiated based on student involvement with MALO.
