All grantees must be eligible nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations.The board of directors consider projects that will improve the quality of life in the Town of Madison.Seed money can be made available to new organizations at the sole discretion of the board of directors. The proposed organization or agency must show a demonstrated prospect for success, evidence of sound management practices including record keeping that insures accountability for funds advanced, and clear, attainable goals relevant to community needs.The Foundation will consider proposals involving a challenge grant in order to stimulate support of a project by other funding resources. The grant would be conditioned upon the receipt of other pledges made to the grantee.Except in special situations, grants will be for one-time projects only although distribution of project funds may be spread over an appropriate period of time. If multi-year funding is necessary, we strongly encourage you to discuss your grant proposal with the grant committee prior to submitting an application.Ineligibility
The following types of organizations are excluded from support by the Madison Foundation: for-profit organizations programs of a religious or partisan nature organizations that discriminate by race, color, creed, gender or national origin TMF does not give grants to individuals.Normally the Foundation does not fund requests for general operating expenses, fundraising events, or annual giving appeals. Additionally, grant requests for research projects are not funded unless associated with a specific action project.
