To qualify for funding your organization must first meet all of the following six criteria.501(C)(3) Nonprofit Status:The organization has active nonprofit tax exemption status under Internal Revenue Service code 501(c)(3).Kansas City Impact:The funding the organization seeks will directly impact children in the Greater Kansas City community.Financial Transparency:The organization’s 990 tax forms for the last two years are available online or readily available upon request.Funding for Children:The program for which the organization seeks funding will DIRECTLY benefit youth ages K-12.Arts, Education, Health:The program applying for funding falls under one of the following areas: Arts, Education, Health, Welfare.Budget Form Submission:The applicant has filled out the budget form and attached it to the application.A new request should be submitted each year.Ineligibility
Funding will not be provided for any of the following purposes:No Wages Paid: No wages/salaries/stipends will be paid to any teacher, para teacher, doctor, nurse, therapist, director, instructor, independent contractor or student of any kind. Organizations that have not submitted their prior year report on time Operating or Indirect Expenses: This includes mileage, trainings, reimbursements, installation and shipping fees. Student trips & Cultural Exchanges Religious/Private Schools Research, Polls, & Studies Association Memberships Building funds for Educational Institutions Maintenance of Buildings Fundraising Activities: Such as event sponsorships, benefits, dinners, galas, sporting events, seminars and symposia. Individuals University Collaborative Research, named Academic Chairs or Endowments. Any types of Pass-Through fundingAdditionally, organizations that can be described as any of the following will also be disqualified:Government-Supported OrganizationsLabor UnionOrganization whose Membership is limited by Race, Religion, Gender or Sexual OrientationPolitical or Lobbying OrganizationInternational Organizations that primarily support programs outside the United StatesOrganizations without a unique 501C3 Designation functioning under a Fiscal SponsorFocus Areas & Funding Uses
