The M. Patricia Morse Award for Excellence and Innovation in Science Education recognizes SICB members at all career stages for outstanding achievements in science education. This award, honoring past SICB President Trish Morse, underscores the society's commitment to advancing research and education in organismal biology. Recipients are acknowledged in the SICB fall newsletter and may receive support for attending the annual conference, reinforcing the importance of educational excellence within the scientific community.
Organismal biology comprises diverse fields that lead to a better understanding of whole organism function and the interface between organisms and their physical and biological environments.
This award honors Trish Morse, a past President of SICB, for her extraordinary achievements and contributions to the society's mission of education. Each year's winner will be recognized in the preceding SICB fall newsletter and prior to the introduction of the Moore Lecturer at the annual conference. The file of nominated candidates will be kept for consideration for a total of three years, with the nominated candidate asked each year if they would like to update any aspect of the file before consideration for that year's award. The Chair of the Educational Council may authorize funds to help support the winner's attendance at that year's meeting.
