Lycoming County Emergency Service Grant Program

The Lycoming County Emergency Service Grant Program, established in 1916, aims to support local fire companies, volunteer organizations, and emergency medical services in Lycoming County. The program provides funding for facility renovations, equipment repairs, and member training, promoting community safety and emergency preparedness. Strong preference is given to collaborative efforts between organizations, ensuring a unified approach to enhancing emergency services. This initiative underscores the commitment to fostering effective public safety solutions and sustaining positive social change for the region.

Eligibility

Who May Apply
Fire Company – A volunteer fire company, a municipal fire company or a combined volunteer and municipal fire company located in Lycoming County.Volunteer Fire Company – A nonprofit chartered corporation, association or organization located in Lycoming County which provides fire protection or rescue services, and which may offer other voluntary emergency services within this Commonwealth. Voluntary emergency services provided by a volunteer fire company may include voluntary ambulance and voluntary rescue services.Emergency Medical Service – Any nonprofit chartered corporation, association or organization located in Lycoming County, which is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is not associated or affiliated with any hospital and which is regularly engaged in the provision of emergency medical services, including basic life support or advanced life support services within Lycoming County.Rescue Companies – A nonprofit chartered corporation, association or organization located in Lycoming County that provides rescue services as part of the response to fires and/or vehicle accidents within Lycoming County.Eligible Requests
Facilities: Construction and renovation of facilities and purchase or repair of fixtures and furnishings, office equipment, and support services necessary to maintain or improve the capability of the company to provide fire, ambulance, or rescue services. This includes repair, renovation, or construction of sleeping quarters (bunk rooms) and training rooms.Equipment: Repair of firefighting, ambulance, or rescue equipment OR purchase thereof; includes the purchase of fuel for company vehicles.Training and certification of members.Education of the general public regarding fire prevention and community risk reduction.Recruitment and retention, including but not limited to, volunteer firefighter length of service award programs and programs for minors.
