Lumber Heritage Region Mini-Grant Program

Geographic Scope: 15-county region in North West and North Central Pennsylvania (Allegheny, Bradford, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Elk, Forest, Indiana, Jefferson, Lycoming, McKean, Potter, Sullivan, Tioga, Warren, Wyoming counties)

Mission: The Lumber Heritage Region is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Pennsylvania's lumber industry while promoting sustainable tourism and economic growth.

    Funding Details

  • Award Amount: Up to $5,000 per grant
  • Total Funding Available: $300,000 through DCNR Community Conservation and Partnerships Program (C2P2)

    Eligible Project Categories

    The mini-grant program supports projects aligned with LHR's mission of education, preservation, and community engagement, including:

  • CCOYA Outdoor Classroom (Cameron County): $5,000 toward 30' x 60' log pavilion with 12 picnic tables
  • Lycoming County Visitors Bureau: $5,000 for four brochures (Millionaire's Row Walking Guide, Ghost Tour, Bases Loaded Map, Antiquing Brochure)
  • Castanea Township Heritage of the Chestnut Tree (Clinton County): Interpretive panel
  • Clinton County Bald Eagle Valley Trail Wayfinding Sign
  • Redbank Valley Trails Andrews Lumber Co. Interpretive Panel (Cambria County)
  • Allegheny Hardwoods Utilization Group: Interpretive panels
  • Cameron County Recreation: Dark Sky Programming
  • Centre County Historical Society: Passport Program and Interpretive Panels
  • DuBois Historical Society: Interpretive Panel
  • McKean County Historical Society: Fire Tower Restoration
