Overview: The Lotus Scholarship program supports academically outstanding students with financial hardship. The scholarship was established by Living Buddha Lian Sheng, founder of Sheng-Yen Lu Foundation, inspired by his own experience receiving the Chia Hsin Cement Corporation scholarship during his studies in Taiwan.

Background

The founder received scholarships that allowed him to complete his education without financial burden to his family. In gratitude, he established the Lotus Scholarship to "give back" and support other deserving students in similar circumstances.
