Sheng-Yen Lu Foundation awards annual grants to nonprofit organizations in the Seattle area working to improve health care and education for underserved and vulnerable populations.

Education Programs

• Early childhood education
• College readiness and access to post-secondary education
• STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education
• Drop-out prevention
• Afterschool and enrichment programs for underserved and minority youth

Health Care Programs

• Quality medical and dental care for uninsured and vulnerable populations
• Uncompensated care at community health centers
• Mobile dental and medical programs serving low-income families
• Healthcare access for low-income families

Geographic Scope

• Seattle area and surrounding communities in Washington state
• Also supports international disaster relief and humanitarian health projects

Award History

• 2011: $227,500 distributed to 15 organizations
• 2013: $240,000 distributed to 15 organizations
• 2014: $257,500 distributed to 16 organizations
• By 2014 (6 years of operation): Over $1,500,000 distributed in total grants, disaster relief, and scholarships
