Overview

NOTE:  This year marked the first year that the Logan-Holl Foundation transitioned to an annual grant round instead of its traditional twice a year opportunity. Logan-Holl Foundation Fund Barton A. Holl, industrialist and community leader, founded the Logan-Holl Foundation in 1968 with $80,000 of his own money. For many years, he also gave significant amounts to the foundation. Establishing the foundation was a natural extension of Mr. Holl’s giving. Prior to the foundation, Mr. Holl wrote personal checks for such things as the payroll at Logan’s new hospital when it struggled in it’s early days. He wanted to design a foundation so that his altruistic endeavors could continue when he was no longer able to give. He died in 1979 at the age of 86. As he desired, the Logan-Holl Foundation continues his legacy of funding projects that benefit the people of Logan and Hocking County. What does the Logan-Holl Foundation support? The Logan-Holl Foundation provides grants for projects that benefit the City of Logan and Hocking County, Ohio. “Money is only as good as the good it can do,” was the motto of Industrialist and Community Leader Barton A. Holl, the founder of the Logan-Holl Foundation. As a result of his leadership and foresight, the foundation has contributed to such projects as the Hocking Valley Community Hospital, the Hocking County Historical Society and Museum, tourism, United Way, Girl and Boy Scouts, the Logan-Hocking District Library, senior citizens, food for those in need, children’s projects, and recreation, as well as scholarships for local students through the Minnie Bowen Fund and Brighten Your Future.
