Overview

New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) The New Jersey Department of Health leads the state’s response to public health challenges and works to improve health outcomes for all New Jersey residents. Through its three primary branches—Public Health Services, Health Systems, and Integrated Health—the Department collaborates across programs and partners to strengthen New Jersey’s health system. Guided by its mission to protect public health, promote healthy communities, and improve the quality of health care, the Department supports initiatives that advance prevention, system integration, and equitable access to health services statewide. Summary This Request for Application (RFA) is issued by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Division of Syndemic and Substance Use Services The purpose of this RFA is to solicit Applications (also herein referenced as Grant Proposals) from the local health departments for the enhancement and management of Overdose Fatality Review Teams (OFRTs). The OFRTs will analyze data, identify regional trends, evaluate strategies to decrease opioid deaths, and integratepublic health infrastructure in the local substance use prevention landscape. OFRTS are to be established at the county-level, unless otherwise directed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner. OFRTs operate to uncover individual and population factors and characteristics of potential overdose victims and inform strategies and coordination to prevent future overdose.
