LOCAL 890 Scholarship Program

Funder: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 890 (IBEW Local 890)

Geographic Scope: Southern Wisconsin counties: Green, Jefferson, Lafayette, Rock, and Walworth

Award Amount: Up to $500 per recipient

Overview:
The LOCAL 890 Scholarship Program supports members in good standing and immediate family members of Local 890, I.B.E.W. in pursuing higher education. The scholarship is available for full-time enrollment in accredited colleges, universities, or vocational/technical schools.

    Eligibility

  • Must be a member in good standing of Local 890, I.B.E.W., OR an immediate family member of such a member
  • Must be enrolling as a full-time student in an accredited institution
  • Applicants do not have to be honor students but must demonstrate desire and ability to do school work on a college or vocational/technical level
  • Scholastic honors, achievements, activities, and abilities will be considered

    Award Details

  • Maximum Award: $500.00
  • Payment Schedule: Payment made at the beginning of the second semester after satisfactorily completing the first semester and providing proof of enrollment for the second semester
  • Announcement: Recipients announced in June

Scholarship Application Process

1. Obtain Application: Click the link provided on the apprenticeship & scholarship page for the IBEW Local 890 Scholarship Application form

2. Submit Application: Applications should be received no later than April 15th

3. Required Materials:
- Completed scholarship application form
- Academic transcripts or proof of enrollment
- Evidence of scholastic honors, achievements, activities, and abilities (if applicable)

4. Verification for Payment:
- Proof of satisfactory completion of first semester
- Proof of enrollment for second semester

5. Timeline:
- Application Deadline: April 15th
- Announcement of Recipients: June
- Payment: Beginning of second semester (upon meeting requirements)
