Lobby School

Funder: Nebraska Civic Engagement Table

Overview: Aims to support participants in taking a 360-degree approach to movement building by connecting elections and grassroots efforts to policy work. The program expands the advocacy infrastructure in the state and builds power, particularly among Nebraska's BIPOC and rural communities.

    Program Goals

  • Expand the bench of policy experts in Nebraska
  • Build power and capacity of Nebraska nonprofit advocacy organizations
  • Support beginning lobbyists in navigating policy work
  • Develop participants' skills to advocate for community interests often unrepresented by traditional professional lobbyists
  • Integrate grassroots strategies and center impacted voices

    Eligibility

  • Open to Nebraska Table Member and Partner organizations
  • Open to others whose mission and vision align with the network
  • Those not already involved with an organization can apply as Policy Fellows

    Policy Fellow Option

  • Duration: Two-year placement from June 2026 through the end of the 2028 Legislative session
  • Employment: Policy Fellows are employed by Nebraska Table and housed with the hosting organization
  • Goal: By end of program, organization will have built capacity to keep the Policy Fellow on staff if it's a good fit
  • Responsibilities: Develop a legislative plan, integrate grassroots strategies, center impacted voices, engage stakeholders with goal of advancing policy in Nebraska state
