Overview

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program (LECSP)

Overview: A competitive scholarship program providing full tuition coverage and additional support for undergraduate education at eligible Indiana colleges and universities.

Geographic Scope: Crawford County, Indiana (1 scholarship available locally; 147 scholarships statewide)

Award Details:

  • Amount: Covers otherwise unreimbursed full tuition and required fees, plus special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment

  • Duration: Four years of full-time undergraduate study

  • Eligible Institutions: Any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university

  • Degree Type: Full-time baccalaureate degree program
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Residency: All Indiana residents

  • High School: Graduate from accredited Indiana high school by application year and receive diploma no later than June 30 of that year

  • Academic Plans: Intend to pursue full-time baccalaureate course of study at eligible Indiana college or university

  • Local Criteria: Meet criteria specific to Crawford County community foundation
  • Selection Process:

  • Applications evaluated on personal statement of need, extenuating circumstances, personal essay, class rank, GPA, academic coursework, recommendation letters, leadership, and school/non-school activities and work experience

  • 3-5 finalists invited for interview by CFCC LECSP selection committee

  • Recommendation made to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) for final selection

  • Scholarship recipients notified in December
  • Program History: Created by Lilly Endowment in 1997-1998 school year; has distributed tuition grants totaling more than $486 million; nearly 5,000 Indiana students have received scholarships since inception
