Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

Overview: A four-year, full-tuition scholarship for high school seniors from Wayne County to pursue baccalaureate degrees at colleges or universities in Indiana. The scholarship also includes up to $900 annually for required textbooks and equipment.

Geographic Scope: Wayne County, Indiana (for applicants); Indiana colleges and universities (for study)

Focus Areas: Higher education, undergraduate education at Indiana institutions

Eligibility:

High school seniors attending Wayne County schools

Consideration given for: activities, achievements, community service, academic performance, financial need, work experience, and leadership potential

Award Details:

Amount: Full tuition for four years plus up to $900 annually for textbooks and equipment

Number of Awards: Two scholarships awarded annually

Grantee Restrictions: Must pursue baccalaureate degrees at colleges or universities in the state of Indiana

Selection Process:

Applications reviewed and scored by Foundation's selection committee

Five finalists selected from highly competitive applicant pool

Finalists interviewed (typically in October/November)

Final recommendations submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. for review

Winners announced in December

Program History:

Program began in 1998

To date, more than 50 Wayne County students have been awarded the scholarship
