Mission Statement The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics advocates for high-quality mathematics teaching and learning for each and every student. Lifetime Achievement Award The NCTM Lifetime Achievement Awards honor Members of NCTM who have exhibited a lifetime of achievement in mathematics education at the national level. The Lifetime Achievement Award may be given posthumously. The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually at the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition. Awards were presented for the first time in 1994 to Edgar Edwards, Shirley Hill, and Eugene Smith. The Lifetime Achievement Award may be given posthumously.Eligibility

Nominees should have a minimum of 25 years of distinguished national/international service to mathematics education.Categories of Distinction. The NCTM Lifetime Achievement Award is presented for distinguished achievement in leadership, teaching, and service. Evidence of distinction should include:performance of the nominee on the job related to mathematics educationservice beyond the requirements of their job at the state, regional, and national/international levelsservice to NCTM and other professional mathematics education organizations (Such as: offices held, leadership roles, committee memberships, special projects, Years of Distinguished Service. The award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution, no matter how monumental. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member.
