Liberty Mutual Foundation- Discretionary Grants for Washington State

The Liberty Mutual Foundation, through the Safeco Insurance Fund, offers discretionary grants to support nonprofits in Washington State. Established in 2006, the fund focuses on empowering vulnerable communities by funding initiatives in education, youth workforce development, housing stability, and climate resiliency. Grants are available for both single and multi-year programs, with a continuous review process. Organizations must be located in Washington and adhere to eligibility criteria, including not having applied within the last 12 months.

Liberty Mutual Foundation provides grant funding to nonprofit organizations that align closely with our strategic grantmaking framework. Single and multi-year grant requests are accepted through open requests for proposals (RFPs) in six priority areas. We also accept proposals for our Discretionary Fund on a rolling basis.

Eligibility

Are registered as a 501(c)(3)Align strongly with at least one of the Foundation’s RFP initiativesServe individuals and communities in Greater Boston (Boston, Brockton, Cambridge, Chelsea, Quincy, Randolph, and Somerville), Greater Puget Sound, and select counties of Washington State (King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, Kitsap and Spokane counties)Have not received funding from Liberty Mutual Foundation within the past 12 months

Liberty Mutual Foundation does not provide funding toIndividualsFoundations that are primarily grant-making agenciesOrganizations requesting funds for sectarian activitiesFraternal, social, labor or political organizationsTrips, tours and transportationDeficit spending or debt liquidationConferences, forums or special eventsOrganizations that have applied within the past 12 monthsNonfunctionally integrated supporting organizations, as classified by the IRSOrganizations that have submitted a proposal within the past 12 months
