Liberty Mutual Foundation- Discretionary Grants

The Liberty Mutual Foundation offers discretionary grants to 501(c)(3) organizations, focusing on those that empower low-income youth and young adults. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that align with its strategic framework and serves communities in Greater Boston and select areas in Washington State. Funding is not available for individuals, religious organizations, or those who have received support in the last 12 months, ensuring resources are directed towards impactful community-driven projects.

We support organizations that work to empower individuals who are struggling to thrive amid challenging situations.
Types of Support:
Liberty Mutual Foundation primarily provides programmatic and general operating support to 501(C)(3) organizations. Priority is given to organizations and projects that serve low-income youth and young adults. Each year, the Foundation awards a limited number of capital grants to current partner organizations whose missions closely align with our strategic grantmaking framework.

Eligibility

Consideration for grant funding is made to nonprofit organizations that:Are registered as a 501(c)(3)Align strongly with at least one of the Foundation’s RFP initiativesServe individuals and communities in Greater Boston (Boston, Brockton, Cambridge, Chelsea, Quincy, Randolph, and Somerville), Greater Puget Sound, and select counties of Washington State (King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, Kitsap and Spokane counties)Have not received funding from Liberty Mutual Foundation within the past 12 months

Ineligibility

Liberty Mutual Foundation does not provide funding to:IndividualsFoundations that are primarily grantmaking agenciesReligious organizations and/or sectarian activitiesFraternal, social or political organizationsTrips, tours or transportationDeficit spending or debt liquidationConferences, forums or special eventsNon-functionally integrated supporting organizations as classified by the IRSOrganizations that have submitted a proposal within the past 12 months
