Les Beach Memorial High School Scholarship

Overview: The Lake Country Power Les Beach Memorial Scholarship is a renewable scholarship program for graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. Named after former co-op employee Les Beach who was killed in 1999 while helping restore power outages, the scholarship honors his memory and raises electrical safety awareness.
Geographic Scope: Northern Minnesota within Lake Country Power's service territory (35+ eligible area high schools)
Award Amount: Up to $4,000 total ($1,000 per year for eight semesters/four years)

How to Apply
Application Process
1. Access Application: Beginning January 1, 2026, applicants can apply online on the Lake Country Power website
2. Submit Student Portion:
- Written essay and student portion of application
- Due by 4:30 p.m. on January 31, 2026
- Submitted online
3. Submit Supporting Documents:
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or mentors
- High school transcripts
- Due by February 15, 2026
- Submitted electronically
4. Review: Application reviewed by LCP Electric Trust Board for consideration
5. Winner Notification: Lake Country Power will notify schools of award winners
- Online application form with essay
- 2 letters of recommendation (electronic submission)
- Official transcripts (electronic submission)
- Student Checklist (for self-verification)

- ACT scores are not required
- Students should review the "Student Checklist" PDF before completing application
- Renewable up to 8 semesters (4 years) with continued eligibility
