Community and Technical College Scholarship

Funder: Lake Country Power

Overview: Lake Country Power awards scholarships to students at community and technical colleges within its service territory. One scholarship is awarded annually at each eligible institution.

Geographic Scope: Northern Minnesota; serves the following colleges within LCP service territory:

  • Itasca Community College, Grand Rapids, MN

  • Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, Virginia, MN

  • Hibbing Community College, Hibbing, MN

  • Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College, Cloquet, MN

  • Vermilion Community College, Ely, MN
  • Award Amount: $1,000 per recipient (one student per college)

    Eligibility:

  • Must be a student at one of the five eligible community colleges

  • Parent or legal guardian must be a Lake Country Power member (implied from other scholarship programs)
  • Special Program - Lineworker Scholarships:
    Lake Country Power also offers lineworker scholarships for specialized Electrical Lineworker A.A.S. degree programs at:

  • Dakota County Area Technical Institute, Rosemount, MN

  • Minnesota West Community & Technical College, Jackson, MN

  • Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Wadena, MN
  • How to Apply: Applications are available through each school's foundation or scholarship office. Students should contact their college's scholarship foundation or selection committee directly.

    Important: Applications should be returned to the school, NOT mailed to Lake Country Power, to ensure meeting school deadlines.

    Application Process

    1. Contact Your College: Reach out to the foundation personnel or scholarship office at your community or technical college

    2. Request Application: Ask for the Lake Country Power scholarship application form and guidelines

    3. Deadlines: Deadlines vary per school - confirm directly with your college's foundation

    4. Complete Application: Fill out the scholarship application with required information

    5. Submit to School: Return completed applications to your college's scholarship foundation or selection committee

    IMPORTANT: Do NOT mail applications to Lake Country Power. Submit directly to the school to meet their deadline.
