Status: Active and ongoing. Foundation-laying phase for long-term impact projects.

Partner: UC San Diego Design Lab (lead strategic partner)
Overview:
The future-focused extension of the WDC 2024 community program prioritizing investment and support for initiatives with potential to bring about long-lasting transformative regional change. The program aims to leave behind a transformed border landscape that is more inclusive, environmentally responsible, and economically prosperous for current and future generations.
- Produce tangible, measurable outcomes that directly tackle regional challenges
- Highlight and celebrate existing strengths and achievements in the region
- Catalyze and accelerate impact through a central network for community collaboration and change

UC San Diego Design Lab leads organization of Design to Action Networks with leadership teams:- Binational Transit Extension (BTX): Cross-border transit innovation (Cordoba Corporation)
- Iniciativa Río Tijuana: River restoration and ecosystem restoration (60+ organizations)
- Museum of US: Reinterpreting California Building through decolonial lens with Indigenous Advisory Board
- Bebé Bus: Mobile early childhood attention in Tijuana migrant shelters (UNICEF/PILA Global)
- Bay to Park Paseo: 1.7-mile pedestrian path from San Diego Bay to Balboa Park
- TransFronterizo Institute: Binational educational initiative for workforce development
- C Street Initiative: Urban revitalization of Downtown San Diego's C Street corridor
- International Friendship Park Convenings: Public discussions on future of binational park
