Lee County Southwest Florida Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Lee County Southwest Florida Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) provides funding for nonprofit capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing public facilities. Eligible activities include the acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of facilities, particularly those serving individuals with special needs or the homeless. A minimum funding amount of $75,000 is available, and multiple awards may be granted. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate leveraged costs and prior experience with similar projects to enhance their proposals.

Lee County Human and Veteran Services (HVS) is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for the following funds allocated through the following U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding source:
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Non-Profit Capital Improvement Projects eligible activities include:The acquisition, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or installation of public facilities.“Public facilities” includes but is not limited to, neighborhood/community facilities and facilities for persons with special needs (e.g. homeless shelters, group homes, and halfway houses).This RFA process is designed to focus on funding new programs and services or the expansion of existing programs and services.Bonus Points may be given to applications for the following four categories:Project proposals that support an emergency shelter or other public facility for individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.Projects with documentation that project costs have been leveraged from other sources.Applicants with previous experience administering projects of a similar size and scope and/or working with CDBG funds.Applicants that can spend down funds in the first six months of the contract.
