Background: For over 60 years, Learning Ally has recognized students who demonstrate exceptional academic progress using their technological solution.

Purpose: Recognizes the outstanding academic and personal achievements of high school and college-age students who have triumphed in the face of persistent challenges due to a learning difference such as dyslexia, a vision impairment, or blindness.

Academic achievement for students with learning differences

Student success despite dyslexia, vision impairments, or blindness

Excellence in teaching for educators supporting struggling readers

Award Categories

Three endowed scholarship awards are offered:

1. Marion Huber Learning Through Listening® (LTL) Award
- Awarded to high school seniors who have a learning difference

2. Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Award (SAA)
- Awarded to college seniors and graduate students who are blind or visually impaired

3. Winslow Coyne Reitnouer Excellence in Teaching Award
- Awarded to educators who consistently use equitable accessible books to support struggling readers

Eligibility

• Students: High school seniors and college/graduate students with documented learning differences (dyslexia, vision impairments, blindness)
• Educators: Teachers and educational professionals who demonstrate commitment to supporting students with learning differences

Selection Process

• National selection committee of esteemed champions of literacy evaluate submissions
• Judging criteria focus on exceptional academic progress and personal achievements
