Learn24 OST Scholarship Program

Overview: The Learn24 OST (Out-of-School-Time) Youth Scholarship Program provides funding to help students and their families—especially those with specific needs—access quality out-of-school-time programs for summer or during the school year.

Geographic Scope: Washington, DC (K-12 grade public, charter, or private schools)

Award Amount:

  • Standard summer programs: Up to $3,000

  • Summer programs for students with disabilities: Up to $5,000

  • Minimum scholarship award: $1,000
  • Program Focus: Scholarships support programs designed for:

  • Students with disabilities

  • Advanced learners

  • English Language Learners

  • Academic support

  • Enrichment activities

  • Social-emotional learning

  • Physical activities
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Individual students seeking funding (not organizations)

  • Must be enrolled in K-12th grade at a DC public, charter, or private school

  • Must reside in Washington, DC

  • Must provide documentation of DC residence

  • Must meet at least ONE of the following at-risk/underserved criteria:

  • - Experiencing homelessness
    - In DC foster care system
    - Economically disadvantaged (eligible for FARM, TANF, or SNAP)
    - High school students one or more years older than expected grade level (up to age 24)
    - Has disability documented by IEP
    - English Language Learner
    - Identifies as LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, Asexual, non-binary, or pansexual)
    - Resides in Wards 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8

    Application Cycles:

  • School-Year and Year-Round Programs: Application opens October 20

  • Summer Programs: Application opens March 16
  • Payment: Scholarships are paid directly to the organization or vendor providing the programs/services

    How to Apply

    Application Process:
    1. Identify a program you wish to attend that qualifies for scholarship support
    2. Contact the program to complete the Vendor Information Form
    3. Submit online application using the portal (opens March 16, 2026 for summer programs)
    4. Attach the completed Vendor Information Form to your application

    Submission Requirements:

  • Applications must be submitted online through the portal

  • No hard copy, email, or faxed applications accepted

  • Applications accepted on rolling basis
  • Review and Notification:

  • Applications reviewed monthly by The Community Foundation

  • Approved by Learn24

  • Applicants notified of funding decisions within 4 weeks of submission
  • Key Notes:

  • Students who received Fall Round scholarship for Year-Round or School Year programs are NOT eligible to apply for additional summer funding

  • Applicants must complete a Vendor Information Form to provide details about the intended program
