Lavelle Fund for the Blind Grant

The Lavelle Fund for the Blind provides targeted support for programs that improve the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This includes funding for medical eye care, vision rehabilitation services, and educational resources. Organizations with U.S. 501(c)(3) status or equivalent international status are eligible. The Fund emphasizes project-specific grants, avoiding general operating support and direct services outside the New York Tri-State area.

NOTE: Due to an unprecedented volume of funding requests, we are placing a temporary pause on Letters of Inquiry from organizations that are new to the Fund.
About the Lavelle Fund for the Blind
The Lavelle Fund for the Blind is a charitable grant-making foundation dedicated primarily to supporting programs that help individuals who are blind or visually impaired live independent and productive lives.
The Lavelle Fund for the Blind funds the following program areas:

• Medical Eye Care
• Making ophthalmic and optometric services available through training, treatment, vision screenings, and eyecare systems strengthening.
• Vision Rehabilitation & Resources

Providing individuals who are blind or visually impaired with access to adaptive training, low-vision support, assistive technology training, recreation and vocational services.
Education
Educational services for students who are blind or visually impaired and training for professionals who serve and support them.

Eligibility

The Lavelle Fund for the Blind provides funding to organizations with U.S. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or verifiable non-U.S. charitable status (in the case of foreign-based, non-profit organizations without a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) fiscal intermediary).

Ineligibility

General operating support is rarely provided.The Fund does not make grants to any of the following:Individuals.
Medical research programs.
Advocacy efforts to influence legislation or elections.
Organizations seeking support for deficit reduction.Direct service projects beyond the New York Tri-State area.
