Summary

The PARD Science Awards, established by the Foundation Fighting Blindness in collaboration with the Nixon Visions Foundation, aim to promote research into PRPH2-associated retinal diseases. With a funding limit of $500,000 over one to three years, these awards encourage innovative proposals that enhance our understanding of PRPH2's biology and its impact on retinal health. The initiative particularly welcomes applications from underrepresented groups and individuals with disabilities, reflecting a commitment to diversity in research.

Overview

Foundation Fighting Blindness The Foundation Fighting Blindness was established in 1971 by a passionate group of individuals determined to help find treatments and cures for blinding diseases affecting themselves or loved ones. At the time, very little was known about these devastating diseases that lead to blindness, and there were no clinical trials for potential treatments. The Foundation’s goal was clear and today, the mission of the Foundation is to drive the research toward preventions, treatments, and cures for blinding diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease, Leber congenital amaurosis, and more. Together, these conditions affect more than 10 million Americans and millions more worldwide. PRPH2 and Associated Retinal Diseases (PARD) Science Awards The Nixon Visions Foundation, in collaboration with the Foundation Fighting Blindness, has committed funding to advance research towards potential treatments for PRPH2-associated retinal diseases. The Foundation Fighting Blindness will make awards for meritorious research proposals that advance our understanding of the biology and pathophysiology of PRPH2 in the retina. The award is up to $500,000, dispersed over one to three years. Individuals from underrepresented racial, ethnic and gender groups, as well as individuals with disabilities, are always encouraged to apply.
