Laura Baker Professional Learning Grant

Named and founded in memory of long-time Murray Board of Education member Laura Baker. This grant provides Murray City School District teachers and licensed professional staff with opportunities to attend conferences or workshops, or acquire training and new skills to help strengthen instructional methods in ways that positively impact student learning.

Award Details:

• The committee will select between two and eight applicants, depending on request costs and available funds
• Recipients approved by MEF Board of Directors in March

Background

During her years of service to the Murray City School District, Mrs. Baker expressed a strong desire to provide Murray teachers and other licensed professional staff with more opportunities for professional development and skill advancement.

• Licensed professional staff in Murray City School District
• Teachers and other licensed professionals

Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated need
• Alignment with defined areas of teaching
• Committee review by district personnel

Application Process

Application Timeline:

• Opens: First business day of February
• Closes: Last business day of February
• Annual cycle

Review Process:

• Applications reviewed by committee of district personnel
• Committee considers demonstrated need and defined areas of teaching
• Committee selects between two and eight applicants based on request costs and available funds
• Recipients approved by MEF Board of Directors in March
• Applicants notified of final decision after March approval
