Iowa Computer Science Professional Development Incentive Fund The Iowa Computer Science Professional Development Incentive Fund was established to assist schools in meeting the goal of the General Assembly, that by July 1, 2019, each accredited high school offer at least one high-quality computer science course, each accredited middle school offer instruction in exploratory computer science, and each accredited elementary school offer instruction in the basics of computer science. The goal of this grant program is to build the capacity of Iowa schools to provide high quality computer science instruction. Funds must be used to supplement, not supplant, funds that would otherwise be used for the activities supported by the program. Professional Development Allocation Grant funds are made available to eligible Iowa school districts, accredited nonpublic school systems, or collaboratives, in a year in which funds are appropriated by the Iowa Legislature, for the following purpose: A school district or accredited nonpublic school, or a collaborative of one or more school districts, accredited nonpublic schools, and area education agencies, may apply to the department to receive moneys from the fund to provide proven professional development activities for Iowa teachers in the area of computer science education.Eligibility

Eligible ApplicantsAll Iowa public school districts and all Iowa accredited nonpublic school systems.To be considered allowable for reimbursement, costs must meet the following general criteria: be necessary and reasonable for proper and efficient operation of the project; be permissible under applicable state and/or federal laws and regulations; conform to any limitations or exclusions set forth in these guidelines, laws or regulations, or other governing limitations as to types or amounts of cost items; be net after applying all applicable credits, such as purchase discounts, project-generated income, and adjustments of overpayments; must not be included as a cost in any other project or grant; and be supported by appropriate documentation.Equipment for professional development can be purchased with grant funding as long as the equipment is required for the training.Stipends are an allowed expense for off-contract time.Ineligibility
