Kindling Awards

Purpose: Celebrate everyday neighbors who keep the spirit of community alive in the Adirondacks

Geographic Scope: Adirondack Region (Adirondack Park, plus all of Clinton and Franklin counties and the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory)

Eligibility:

  • Any resident within the Adirondack Region

  • Small, informal groups within the Adirondack Region

    • Award Details:

  • Each awardee selects a local organization to receive a $1,000 grant in their honor

  • Awardees are featured in community profiles to share their story and inspire others

  • Named after the essential ingredient that starts the warm fire we all gather around

    • Program Evolution:

  • 2025: Inaugural Kindling Awards celebrated events that bring neighbors together in winter months

  • 2026: Focus shifted from events to people

  • 30 awardees selected in 2026, each nominating a local organization for $1,000 grant

    • Eligible Organization Types for Grant Selection:
