NOTE: Grant Applications are by invitation only in 2026. Due to the unprecedented crisis in Afghanistan, we will be focusing on emergency relief efforts and will work with organizations with whom we have existing relationships. These organizations are working hard to address acute national needs such as healthcare for women and children and the severe food shortage and mass starvation that the country is facing. As a result, our general application period will NOT be open and we will solicit applications on an invitation-only basis as applicable.
Our grantees provide essential humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. They give shelter, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities to families, focusing on women and children.

Eligibility

Omid grants are made to support humanitarian projects in Afghanistan. Only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, or those with fiscal funders who are designated as 501(c)(3) and that are working to provide the following in Afghanistan may apply:Education and/or training

Ineligibility

The foundation does not fund individuals, individual trips or tours, conferences or events, or projects that benefit political, religious, or military organizations.The foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical circumstances or national origin. Grant applicants must hold similar standards. Grant applications from organizations known to have discriminatory policies will not be considered.
