Overview

Mrs. Jean Holbert Kent established the Kent-Holbert Scholarship Endowment upon her death in 2014. The $4,000 renewable scholarship honors the memory of Kenneth Nelson Kent, Summerson B. Holbert and Nannie B. Landes Holbert. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in higher education in a health care field or an area of study which supports health care. Adult students pursuing a nursing vocation, advancing a career in nursing or another health care field are also eligible to apply. Applicants must have historical ties to Augusta County or Nelson County, including the cities within those counties. The scholarship is administrated by the Community Partnership Committee of the Augusta Health Board of Directors. Scoring of applications will be based on academic field of study, financial need, residency and academic achievement. Applicants must show evidence of satisfactory academic performance, with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Applications will also be scored on personal qualifications such as goal setting and self motivation.
